What rodent control actually involves
Trapping alone is a subscription, not a solution. A house that let mice in once will let them in again every autumn until the gaps are sealed. We trap the current population and seal the entry points in the same job — a mouse gets through a gap the width of a pencil, and the ones that matter are almost always somewhere you cannot comfortably reach.
How to tell you have them
- Droppings along skirting, inside cupboards, or under the kitchen sink
- Gnaw marks on food packaging, cabinet corners or wiring
- Scratching or scurrying inside walls or above the ceiling, especially after dark
- Shredded insulation, fabric or paper collected into a nest
- A persistent ammonia-like smell in an enclosed space such as a pantry or crawl space

Inspection and entry mapping
We work the exterior perimeter, roofline, vents, utility penetrations and foundation, and identify how they are actually getting in. This is the part most treatments skip.

Trapping programme
Traps placed on established runways and in voids, in tamper-resistant stations where children or pets have access. Placement is what determines the catch rate.

Exclusion and sealing
Gaps sealed with rodent-proof materials — steel wool, mesh, sealant and hardware cloth. This is the step that turns a treatment into a fix.
- 04
Verification visit
We return to clear stations and confirm activity has stopped before closing the job.
When this peaks in Ontario
Ontario rodent calls climb sharply from late September as the first cold nights push mice indoors, and peak between October and January. Rural and lakeside properties see it earliest. Sealing work done in late summer is far cheaper than trapping through a winter.
