Wasps, hornets and honeybees need different responses. Honeybee colonies are referred to a beekeeper for relocation rather than destroyed.

Height, nest position and proximity to doors, play areas and living space determine the approach and the timing.

Treat and remove
Direct treatment to the nest with full protective equipment, then physical removal where it is safe to do so. Void nests are treated at the entry point.

Seal the cavity
An untreated cavity gets recolonised the following season. Sealing after removal is what prevents the repeat call.
When this peaks in Ontario
Ontario nests are founded in May, grow through summer, and reach peak size and aggression in August and September when the colony switches to sugar-feeding. Late-summer nests can hold thousands of wasps, which is why August calls are the most urgent.
